Lothian Police Logo

Formed in 2018, the new Lothian Police Service protects the Lothian region and surrounding communities from the recent surge in illegal street racing. Anyone with information about any suspicious activies should contact the LPS immediately.

Catching the criminals

The goal of the LPS is to bust racers as fast and as safely as possible. This is done using a variety of maneuvers and tactics. The stages of a (Open Patrol) pursuit are listed below.

handcuffs

1. Patrolling

All on-duty police officers will be on the lookout for anyone causing trouble. Police are not allowed to continually follow anyone around unless they are doing something suspiscous. If the officer spots a racer, move to step 2.

2. Initiating the traffic stop/pursuit

Police will attempt to halt racers by driving behind their vehicle and turning on their siren. Officers should give racers a few seconds to pull over before starting a chase. Up to two officers are allowed to participate in a traffic stop, all others should be out of the vicinity and continue patrolling.

3. Chasing the racer

If the offender does not stop their vehicle or drives away from the traffic stop, the officer and offender are now in a pursuit. Whatever is needed to bust the racer will be done.

4A. Busting the racer

If the racer's vehicle is surrounded for 10 seconds, lands on their side/roof after a jump, or is unable to go faster than 30 mph due to damage (basically limp mode), they are considered busted. If police lose visual contact for 2 minutes, the racer has successfully evaded, so back to step 1.

5A. Racer first try bust

If the chase lasted 10+ minutes, reached priority 1, and/or the SWAT team was called in, racers do NOT get a second try. Otherwise, move to 5B. Racers can repair their vehicle after the chase, but NOT change it. Cops can switch and/or repair their vehicles.

5B. Racer second try bust (if applicable)

The racer's turn is up, regardless of whether or not the conditions previously stated were met.

Pursuit priorities

Police pursuits are split into three categories depending on the status of the chase. The lead officer can help inform others by declaring the priority.

Priority 3

The pursuit (if there is one) is under control and hasn't escalated. Backup is not needed at the moment. Cops should NOT be using aggressive tactics.
Example: typical traffic stop/beginning of pursuit.

Priority 2

The pursuit is starting to escalate and things are getting a bit out of hand. More backup would be useful. Cops should start using more agressive tactics.
Example: pursuit is starting to endanger cops and civilians.

Priority 1

The pursuit is completely out of control and all backup available should join the chase. Cops should use full force and consider calling heavy rhino or SWAT for assistance.
Example: dangerous pursuit that has been going on for a while.

Police car classes

The Lothian Police Service employs a wide variety of vehicles, each with a specific purpose.

police car

Cruiser

The common patrol car seen roaming the streets of Lothian and bordering areas. Useful for everyday tasks such as setting up a speed trap or writing out hundreds of citations. Most on-duty officers will be driving a Cruiser.
Restrictions: none.

Light Rhino

This class consists of relatively small SUVs and pickups made for ramming racers off the road. They can prove useful during offroad situations in which a Cruiser might struggle. See eligible cars below.
Restrictions: only 1 allowed on-duty until there are 8+ players, then 2. When racer is in a heavy (5,000 lbs) car, no restrictions.

Heavy Rhino

These strengthened machines can be called into action during priority 1 pursuits. Winter is the only time they are allowed on patrol. Simulation damage is turned off for this class. See eligible cars below.
Restrictions: only 1 allowed on-duty until there are 8+ players during winter, then 2, and only 1 allowed during priority 1 pursuit.

Stealth

Stealth units use the main LPS livery, but darkened. These cars are not allowed to initiate pursuits, but are allowed to tip off other officers and join chases already in progress.
Restrictions: only 1 allowed on-duty.

Enforcer

This unit is allowed to be tuned one class above the lobby's limit, but must sit at the HQ or side of the road until a pursuit reaches priority 1. In their downtime, they are allowed to deploy a drone and act as a dispatcher if need be.
Restrictions: only 1 allowed on-duty and lobby needs to have 6+ players.

SWAT

Only under dire situations should the SWAT team be called to action. They can be tuned to the max regardless of lobby restrictions. Simulation damage is turned off for this class. See eligible cars below.
Restrictions: only 1 allowed after 10+ minute pursuit and priority 1.
